Hi, I’m Rachel Urquhart (or Raych Pony Gold, for those who can’t pronounce my last name).

I’m an Australian designer, illustrator, and writer from the mid-north coast of NSW, where the magic and power of the surrounding natural world drives my creative practice. Influenced by the mainstream iconography of psychedelic poster art, bad tattoos, natural history illustration, 70s print design, and old t-shirt graphics, I try to draw together the profound and the accessible, to describe the pedestrian magic of the world around us, that is occurring everywhere, all the time.

After studying journalism at the University of Queensland, I worked for five years as a newspaper and magazine journalist — and moonlighted as an illustrator in my spare time. Eventually my illustration work started to outweigh by 9-5, and I now freelance in the creative industries, working on everything from illustration and design to content creation and copywriting.

I’m always happy to talk about design, illustration, content creation, or dogs — so feel free to get in touch.
